Responsabilités

• Provide specialized assessment and management for high-risk pregnancies.
• Perform and interpret fetal and obstetric ultrasound assessments.
• Monitor fetal growth, anatomy, and wellbeing; identify abnormalities.
• Coordinate with obstetricians, radiologists, geneticists, neonatologists and teams.
• Offer counselling on fetal findings and management options.
• Maintain accurate records and ultrasound documentation.
• Participate in audits and quality-improvement initiatives.

Job Description

Consultant Fetal Medicine is responsible for providing specialized assessment and management of pregnancies with fetal, maternal, or pregnancy-related risks. The includes antenatal evaluation, fetal imaging and surveillance, counselling, diagnosis of fetal conditions, coordination of multidisciplinary care, and appropriate follow-up throughout pregnancy.

• Evaluate pregnant patients requiring specialized fetal-medicine care.
• Review maternal, obstetric, and fetal medical history.
• Perform and interpret appropriate fetal and obstetric ultrasound assessments.
• Assess fetal growth, development, anatomy, and wellbeing.
• Identify fetal abnormalities and pregnancy-related complications.
• Assess pregnancies requiring high-risk or specialized monitoring.
• Develop appropriate investigation and management plans.
• Provide counselling regarding fetal findings and available management options.
• Explain diagnostic findings and treatment pathways to patients and families.
• Coordinate with obstetricians, radiologists, genetic specialists, neonatologists, and other teams.
• Recommend appropriate prenatal investigations where clinically indicated.
• Monitor fetal and maternal condition during follow-up.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary planning for complex pregnancies.
• Support appropriate referral for fetal interventions or specialist care where required.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ultrasound documentation.
• Provide antenatal follow-up and continuity of care.
• Participate in clinical audits and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Follow patient-safety, infection-control, and ethical standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and family information.
• Follow applicable professional guidelines and hospital protocols.
