Job Description

Consultant Medical Gastroenterology is responsible for diagnosing and managing diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary systems through comprehensive clinical evaluation, medical treatment, diagnostic procedures, and follow-up care. The coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to provide specialized gastroenterology services.

• Conduct consultations for gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions.
• Obtain detailed medical, dietary, and gastrointestinal histories.
• Perform comprehensive clinical examinations.
• Diagnose and manage gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and related disorders.
• Develop individualized medical treatment plans.
• Review and interpret laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic reports.
• Perform or supervise gastroenterology procedures within professional scope.
• Perform endoscopic procedures where appropriately trained and credentialed.
• Evaluate patients with abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver disease, and other digestive disorders.
• Manage chronic gastrointestinal and liver conditions.
• Monitor treatment response and modify management plans when required.
• Provide counselling regarding diet, lifestyle, medication, and disease management.
• Coordinate with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, nutritionists, and other specialists.
• Provide appropriate emergency management for acute gastrointestinal conditions.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and procedure documentation.
• Provide follow-up care and monitor long-term patient outcomes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Support clinical audits and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards.
• Follow hospital protocols and applicable gastroenterology guidelines.
