Job Description

A Staff Nurse - SICU is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill surgical patients requiring intensive monitoring and post-operative management. The requires critical care nursing knowledge, surgical patient management skills, emergency response abilities, and expertise in ICU protocols.

The SICU Staff Nurse will monitor post-surgical patients, manage ICU equipment, administer treatments, assist doctors during critical procedures, and ensure safe recovery of patients after major surgeries.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive nursing care to critically ill surgical patients.
  • Monitor post-operative patients and identify clinical changes.
  • Manage patients requiring ventilator and advanced monitoring support.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, and treatments.
  • Assist surgeons and intensivists during procedures.
  • Maintain ICU monitoring systems and emergency equipment.
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, and post-operative nursing procedures.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and report abnormalities.
  • Follow infection prevention and control practices.
  • Assist during emergency situations and code blue events.
  • Coordinate with doctors, technicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Educate patients and families regarding care plans.
  • Maintain patient safety and confidentiality.
