Behari Lal Engineering in India seeks a Production Planning & Control leader for CNC machining. Plan, monitor, and control daily, weekly, and monthly production activities across CNC turning, VMC, and HMC to meet customer delivery schedules.

You will optimize OEE, tool usage, and process parameters; lead CNC programmers, setters, and operators; and drive Lean, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to reduce waste and improve throughput.

Role & responsibilities

Production Planning & Control

• Plan, monitor, and control daily, weekly, and monthly CNC machining production activities.
• Ensure achievement of production targets as per customer requirements and delivery schedules.
• Monitor machine loading, cycle time, productivity, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Ensure optimum utilization of CNC machines, manpower, and resources.

CNC Machining Operations

• Manage CNC Turning, VMC, HMC, and other machining operations for cast components.
• Ensure proper setting, programming, tooling, and process parameters.
• Develop and optimize machining processes to improve productivity and reduce cycle time.
• Ensure proper handling and machining of castings, including control of casting defects and machining allowances.

Quality Management

• Ensure machined components meet customer specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with the Quality Department to control rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
• Implement process controls and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Ensure first-piece inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection compliance.

Tooling & Cost Optimization

• Monitor cutting tool consumption, tool life, and tooling costs.
• Optimize cutting parameters and machining methods to reduce production costs.
• Ensure availability of fixtures, jigs, cutting tools, and other machining accessories.
• Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, and material wastage.

Manpower Management

• Lead and manage CNC programmers, setters, operators, supervisors, and technicians.
• Allocate manpower according to production requirements.
• Conduct training and skill development programs.
• Maintain discipline, accountability, and a performance-driven work culture.

Machine Maintenance & Safety

• Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Minimize machine downtime and ensure maximum machine availability.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards, 5S, and housekeeping practices.
• Maintain proper records of machine breakdowns and maintenance activities.

Process Improvement

• Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve throughput.
• Drive improvements in productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Standardize machining processes and maintain process documentation.

Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Purchase, and Dispatch departments.
• Monitor daily production reports, rejection reports, downtime, and productivity.
• Review KPIs and take necessary actions to achieve departmental targets.
• Ensure timely execution of new product development and machining trials.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes for cast iron, SG iron, and aluminium castings.
• Experience in CNC Turning, VMC, HMC, and machining centre operations.
• Knowledge of CNC programming, setting, tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters.
• Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining tolerances.
• Experience in production planning, manpower management, and process improvement.
• Knowledge of quality systems such as IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 will be an advantage.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
