Job summary

SBI General Insurance is seeking a capable professional to build a high-performing agency network, recruit and onboard agents, and drive consultative selling with SME and commercial clients.

You will lead sales planning for SME business across lines, train agents in product coverage, risk assessment, and compliance, and ensure adherence to IRDAI norms and underwriting guidelines; report on pipeline, renewals, and agent performance.

Qualifications

Role & responsibilities:

Agency Recruitment & Development

• Recruit and onboard agents and brokers-turned-agents with SME and commercial client networks (traders, manufacturers, shop owners, MSMEs).
• Develop agents to handle consultative, relationship-led selling and sustain long-term retention.

Sales Planning & Execution

• Drive SME business (fire, marine, property, liability, group health, engineering) through the agency network with clear targets and pipeline reviews.
• Support agents in client needs analysis, cross-selling, and larger-ticket closures, coordinating with underwriting on pricing and terms.
• Track portfolio quality, renewals, and claims experience.

Training & Capability Building

• Train agents on SME products, coverage structuring, risk assessment basics, and policy wording.
• Build skills in client presentations, negotiation, and compliance awareness.

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure adherence to IRDAI regulations, KYC, and underwriting norms, with proper documentation on every proposal.
• Report on premium, pipeline, renewals, and agent performance on schedule.
