Job summary

JobItUs in India seeks a Slitting Supervisor – BOPP Mainline in Production. You will supervise day-to-day slitting and rewinding of BOPP film, ensure adherence to production plan, and maintain quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include checking film width, tension, knife setup, operator guidance, waste reduction, and coordination with maintenance and QA to ensure smooth material flow and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operation of BOPP film slitting and rewinding machines.
• Ensure production follows the approved production plan, work orders, and customer specifications.
• Verify film width, roll length, winding direction, core size, roll diameter, and other specs before starting each job.
• Monitor slitting parameters such as web tension, winding tension, line speed, nip pressure, and other process parameters.
• Maintain edge quality and accurate slit width within minimum tolerance.
• Monitor finished rolls for defects and ensure proper labeling, weighing, and segregation.
• Coordinate with BOPP Mainline/Production, Quality Control, Maintenance, Stores, and Dispatch teams for smooth material flow.
• Inspect jumbo/master rolls before releasing them for slitting and check all quality parameters.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and prevention of damage or contamination to jumbo rolls and finished slit rolls.
• Maintain production records and analyze slitting losses to improve material utilization.
• Supervise operators, helpers, and personnel in the slitting section and allocate shifts accordingly.
• Ensure safe operating practices and report major issues to the Production Manager.

Position: Slitting Supervisor – BOPP Mainline

Job Purpose

The Slitting Supervisoris responsible forsupervising and controllingtheslitting and rewindingoperations of BOPPfilm, ensuring that finishedrolls are producedsafely, efficiently, andin accordance withcustomer specificationsand quality standards. Theposition is responsiblefor achieving productiontargets while minimizingwaste, roll defects, downtime, and materiallosses.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day operationof BOPP filmslitting and rewindingmachines.
• Ensure production iscarried out asper the approvedproduction plan, workorders, and customerspecifications.
• Verify film width, roll length, winding direction, core size, roll diameter, and other specificationsbefore starting eachjob.
• Ensure correct machinesetup, includingslitting knives/blades, shafts, cores, tensionsettings, web alignment, differential winding,and other relevantparameters.
• Monitor and control slitting parameters such as web tension, winding tension,line speed, nippressure, and otherprocess parameters.
• Ensure proper edge quality and accurateslit width withminimum tolerance deviation.
• Monitor finished rolls fordefects such astelescoping, starring, wrinkles, loose winding, tightwinding, edge damage, scratches, blocking, contamination, and uneven rollformation.
• Ensure proper identification, labeling, weighing, andsegregation of finishedrolls according toproduct specifications.
• Minimize trim waste, start-up waste, roll rejection, andother material losses.
• Coordinate with theBOPP Mainline/Production, Quality Control, Maintenance, Stores, and Dispatchteamsto ensure smoothmaterial flow.
• Inspect jumbo/master rolls received from the BOPP mainline before releasing them forslitting.
• Check master-roll identification, width, thickness, grade, windingcondition, and qualitystatus before processing.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of jumbo rolls and finished slitrolls to preventdamage and contamination.
• Coordinate with Quality Control regarding any quality deviations and ensure appropriate segregationor corrective action.
• Maintain accurate records of production, wastage, downtime, rejectedrolls, rework, andmaterial consumption.
• Analyzeslitting losses andimplement measures to improve material utilization.
• Supervise machine operators, helpers, and otherpersonnel working inthe slitting section.
• Allocate manpowerand responsibilities accordingto the shiftproduction requirements.
• Ensure proper shift handover, including machine status, pending jobs,quality issues, breakdowns, and material availability.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Department for preventive maintenance andbreakdown resolution.
• Ensure that knives, blades, cores, shafts, and other consumables are available and maintainedproperly.
• Ensure compliance withSOPs, work instructions, quality procedures, andapproved machine parameters.
• Ensure strict compliancewithsafety procedures, PPErequirements, 5S, housekeeping, and environmental requirements.
• Conduct toolbox talksand ensure thatoperators follow safeoperating practices.
• Immediately report any major machine breakdown, quality deviation, safety incident, or abnormal operating condition to theProduction Manager.
• Train and guideoperators on machineoperation, product handling, quality requirements,troubleshooting, and safety.
• Participate inroot-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous-improvement activitiesto improveproductivity and reducewastage.
