Job summary

PS Human Resources And Consultants seeks an experienced Slitting Line Operator to manage a narrow-width stainless steel slitting line. You will handle coil loading, knife setting, line operation, and quality control to achieve precise slit widths, with emphasis on safety and efficient production.

The role requires hands-on experience with stainless coils (0.20–3.00 mm) and the ability to coordinate with crane/forklift operators, while maintaining records and equipment care on site in Navi Mumbai.

Qualifications

• Experience: 310 years of hands-on experience in operating a steel or stainless steel slitting line.
• Experience in narrow-width slitting preferred.
• Practical experience with stainless steel coils in thickness 0.20 mm to 3.00 mm.
• Knowledge of knife setting, spacer calculation, slitting clearance, and tooling selection.
• Ability to produce narrow slit strips/patti with widths as low as 10 mm.
• Understanding of common slitting defects and methods to control them.
• Knowledge of coil handling, strip tension, recoiling, and quality control.
• Ability to read production instructions and use measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes.
• Basic understanding of mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Safety-conscious and able to work independently as well as in coordination with the production team.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control the stainless steel narrow-width slitting line efficiently and safely.
• Handle the complete slitting process from coil loading to recoiling of finished slit coils.
• Set up and adjust slitting knives, spacers, separators, and tooling as per slit widths.
• Ensure accurate slitting with minimum slit width of 10 mm.
• Monitor strip quality and control defects such as burr, edge damage, camber, telescoping, scratches, and uneven winding.
• Set and monitor line speed, tension, alignment, and recoiling parameters.
• Verify material specifications, thickness, width, and production requirements before starting.
• Coordinate with EOT crane/forklift operators and manage coil loading/unloading.
• Maintain coil identification, production records, and traceability of slit material.
• Minimize wastage and improve production efficiency.
• Carry out routine inspection and basic maintenance of the slitting line and equipment.
• Identify issues and coordinate with maintenance for timely rectification.
• Ensure housekeeping and compliance with safety PPE requirements.
• Maintain production, rejection, scrap, and downtime records.

The candidate should be capable of independently handling the complete slitting process, including coil loading, setting knives/spacers, operating the line, monitoring quality, and ensuring accurate slit widths.

• Monitor strip quality during production and control issues such as burr, edge damage, camber, telescoping, scratches, and uneven winding.
• Set and monitor appropriate line speed, tension, alignment, and recoiling parameters.
• Verify material specifications, thickness, width, and production requirements before starting the job.
• Handle coil loading/unloading and coordinate with EOT crane/forklift operators, wherever applicable.
• Maintain proper coil identification, production records, and traceability of slit material.
• Minimize material wastage and improve production efficiency.
