Planet Robotics (Planetpro Automation Pvt. Ltd.) Pune is seeking a BIW Fixture Design Engineer to design and develop fixtures for automotive sheet metal components and to support the welding process.

You will work with CATIA V5 and SolidWorks to create 3D models and 2D drawings, apply 3-2-1 locating principles, ensure safety and ergonomics, and coordinate with manufacturing and quality teams. Experience in automotive fixture design and robotic welding lines is preferred; independent handling

Competenze

• Diploma / BE in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in automotive fixture design.
• Ability to independently handle fixture design from concept to manufacturing drawings.
• Experience with robotic welding lines will be preferred.

Role & responsibilities

Design and develop BIW welding fixtures for automotive sheet metal components.

Design robotic spot welding fixtures, checking fixtures and assembly fixtures.

Apply the 3-2-1 locating principle for accurate component positioning.

Design locating pins, rest pads, clamps, supports, risers and foolproofing arrangements.

Understand robotic spot welding gun accessibility and electrode clearance.

Perform fixture layout, station concept development and detailed 3D modelling.

Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings, BOM and assembly drawings.

Ensure fixture accessibility, ergonomics and operator safety.

Coordinate with manufacturing, production and quality teams.

Modify fixture designs based on customer feedback and trial observations.

Support fixture commissioning and prove-out activities.

Pneumatic circuit understanding.

Manufacturing feasibility and cost optimization.

4. Candidate Qualifications

Diploma / BE in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience in automotive fixture design.

Ability to independently handle fixture design from concept to manufacturing drawings.

Experience with robotic welding lines will be preferred.
