Job summary

Aster DM Healthcare in India seeks a Biomedical Equipment Manager to oversee the safe, regulatory-compliant management of biomedical devices across LABS. You will ensure equipment availability, coordinate installation and acceptance of new systems, and drive preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities include calibration, QA, vendor management for AMC/CMC, procurement support, and meticulous maintenance of equipment history and service records.

Qualifications

• Maintain an updated inventory of all biomedical equipment with asset details, location, warranty and service history.
• Coordinate installation, testing, commissioning, and acceptance of new medical equipment.
• Prepare preventive maintenance schedules and attend breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Ensure timely calibration and verify equipment performance after service before clinical release.
• Coordinate with vendors for AMC/CMC, warranty claims, and service reports validation.
• Provide technical input for procurement and demonstratives for user departments.
• Maintain equipment history cards, maintenance records and downtime logs.

Responsible for the effective management, maintenance, safety, and availability of biomedical equipment across the LABS. The role ensures that medical equipment is safe, functional, compliant with regulatory requirements, and available for clinical use with minimum downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Biomedical Equipment Management
  • Maintain an updated inventory of all biomedical equipment, including asset details, location, warranty, AMC/CMC, and service history.
  • Coordinate installation, commissioning, testing, and acceptance of new medical equipment.
  • Ensure proper functioning and availability of critical medical equipment.
• Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance
  • Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules for biomedical equipment.
  • Attend breakdown complaints and ensure timely resolution to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Coordinate with authorized vendors/service providers for repairs and technical support.
  • Monitor equipment downtime and maintain breakdown/service records.
• Calibration & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure timely calibration of equipment as per manufacturer recommendations and hospital requirements.
  • Maintain calibration certificates and service reports.
  • Verify equipment performance after repair, maintenance, or calibration before releasing it for clinical use.
• Vendor & AMC/CMC Management
  • Coordinate with vendors for AMC/CMC, warranty claims, preventive maintenance, and breakdown services.
  • Monitor service-level agreements and ensure timely vendor response.
  • Review service reports and validate vendor invoices against services provided.
  • Support evaluation and selection of vendors for biomedical equipment.
• New Equipment Procurement
  • Provide technical specifications and recommendations for procurement of biomedical equipment.
  • Participate in technical evaluation and comparison of equipment.
  • Support user departments during equipment demonstrations and trials.
  • Ensure proper installation, commissioning, and user training after procurement..
• Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain equipment history cards, preventive maintenance records, calibration records, breakdown reports, and service reports.
  • Prepare periodic reports on equipment availability, downtime, maintenance status, and critical equipment.
  • Track warranty expiry, AMC/CMC expiry, calibration due dates, and equipment replacement requirements.
• Inventory & Asset Control
  • Conduct periodic physical verification of biomedical assets.
  • Ensure proper tagging and identification of equipment.
  • Coordinate movement, transfer, condemnation, disposal, and replacement of biomedical equipment as per hospital policy.
