Overview

The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and supporting medical equipment across hospital departments. This involves preventive maintenance, breakdown support, equipment installation, documentation, vendor coordination, and user training. The candidate should have knowledge of biomedical devices, hospital safety standards, calibration requirements, and equipment lifecycle management to ensure reliable clinical operations and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and breakdown support for hospital medical equipment.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and calibrate biomedical devices as per schedule and standards.
• Support installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of new medical equipment.
• Maintain equipment inventory, service records, calibration certificates, and maintenance logs.
• Coordinate with vendors and service engineers for repairs, AMC visits, and technical support.
• Attend equipment breakdown calls from ICU, OT, emergency, radiology, wards, and diagnostic areas.
• Ensure medical equipment is safe, functional, and ready for clinical use.
• Train clinical users on basic equipment handling, safety precautions, and reporting procedures.
• Monitor equipment downtime and follow up for timely repair or replacement.
• Support procurement teams with technical evaluation and equipment specification inputs.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, biomedical safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Check electrical safety, accessories, cables, batteries, and consumables related to equipment.
• Maintain proper labeling, asset tagging, and documentation of biomedical equipment.
• Prepare biomedical reports, maintenance summaries, and equipment performance updates.
• Support audits, accreditation requirements, and quality improvement initiatives.
