Job Description
The Biomedical Engineer will manage biomedical equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, calibration coordination, breakdown support, equipment safety, service documentation, and medical equipment readiness in the hospital. This requires strong technical knowledge of medical devices, hospital equipment workflow, vendor coordination, and patient safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot biomedical, medical, and hospital equipment across departments.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine checking of critical patient care equipment.
- Coordinate equipment calibration, servicing, breakdown repair, and technical support.
- Maintain equipment records, service logs, AMC / CMC details, calibration certificates, and maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate with ICU, OT, emergency, radiology, laboratory, nursing, and clinical departments for equipment readiness.
- Follow up with vendors and service engineers for repair, installation, spare parts, and technical support.
- Ensure patient care equipment is safe, functional, calibrated, and available for clinical use.
- Report equipment breakdowns, repeated faults, safety issues, or urgent repair needs to seniors promptly.
- Support new equipment installation, user training, demonstration, and technical handover.
- Maintain biomedical inventory, equipment tagging, asset tracking, and department-wise equipment details.
- Monitor emergency equipment readiness such as monitors, ventilators, defibrillators, suction machines, infusion pumps, and OT equipment.
- Follow hospital safety rules, electrical safety, biomedical engineering standards, infection control, and documentation protocols.
- Support audit readiness through proper maintenance records, calibration files, and service reports.
- Ensure reliable, safe, and uninterrupted biomedical equipment support for quality patient care.
