Job summary

Speed Global in Pune seeks an Associate Technical Leader to drive PLC and HMI/SCADA automation projects for SPMs and plant systems. You will review customer requirements, design control logic, and coordinate with hardware and software delivery teams.

You will develop PLC programs on Siemens S7 / TIA Portal or Allen-Bradley platforms, build HMI/SCADA apps, conduct testing, and support commissioning and site troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, or Automation Engineering.
• 10–12 years of relevant experience in PLC, HMI/SCADA, automation and control system engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience in PLC programming and HMI/SCADA development for automation and plant systems.
• Proficient in Siemens S7 / TIA Portal and/or Allen-Bradley platforms.
• Knowledge of Profinet, Profibus and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements for equipment, SPMs, automation and control systems.
• Understand electrical schematics, P&IDs, control philosophy, I/O lists, and customer specs.
• Develop PLC programs using Ladder Logic, FBD, and ST for S7/TIA or AB platforms.
• Develop and modify HMI/SCADA applications including graphics, alarms, trends, and interlocks.
• Test PLC/HMI software using simulators and support FAT/SAT, commissioning and site work.

Associate Technical Leader (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Automation and Control System)

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand and comprehensively review customer requirements related to equipment, Special Purpose Machine, plant automation, control systems, and process requirements.
• Understand electrical schematics, P&IDs, control philosophy, sequence of operation, I/O lists, instrumentation requirements, and customer specifications.
• Preparation of Input Output list and Serial communication list as per requirement of Project.
• In-line with customer expectations for control/automation logic received as inputs develop, modify, and customize PLC programs based on project requirements using Ladder Logic, FBD, and Structured Text (ST).
• Develop automation logic / PLC program for Siemens S7 / TIA Portal and/or Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix platforms and other equivalent system.
• Develop and modify HMI/SCADA applications, including graphics, alarms, trends, recipes, interlocks, diagnostics, and operator controls.
• Conduct detailed PLC and HMI software testing using simulators.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and site troubleshooting activities as required.
• Prepare and maintain software-related documentation, including PLC program documentation, I/O mapping, control logic, HMI documentation, alarm lists, communication configuration, and testing records.
• Ensure software development and project deliverables comply with customer requirements, project specifications, engineering standards, and the organization's quality management system.
• Work closely with the Automation, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, and Project Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and timely project execution.
• Review customer comments and incorporate approved changes into PLC/HMI software and associated documentation.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and contribute to development of standard PLC/HMI libraries, templates, and reusable functions.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, or Automation Engineering.
• Experience: Approximately 10–12 years of relevant experience in PLC, HMI/SCADA, automation, and control system engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience in PLC programming and HMI/SCADA development for SPM, automated machinery, material handling systems, process equipment, and/or plant engineering applications.
• Good programming skills in Ladder Logic, FBD, and Structured Text (ST).
• Hands-on experience with Siemens SIMATIC S7 / TIA Portal and/or Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix PLC platforms.
• Experience in using industrial communication protocols (Profinet, profibus, etc).
• Knowledge of digital input/output connections and various analog inputs.
• Ability to understand electrical schematic, instrumentation and controls, etc.
• Good understanding of machine/equipment automation as well as plant-level automation and process control applications.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with customers, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
