Job summary

Nagarro, a Digital Product Engineering company, is seeking a Java Support Engineer in Gurugram. You will join a 24x7 rotational shift model to support Java-based applications, manage production issues, and coordinate with business customers to translate requirements into actionable fixes.

This role requires 5+ years of experience, strong Unix/Linux and SQL database skills, and familiarity with ITIL incident/problem/change management.

Qualifications

• Total experience of 5+ years in Java support and production environments.
• Flexible to work in 24x7 rotational shifts from Gurugram office.
• Strong Unix/Linux, SQL databases (Sybase, Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL) experience.
• Excellent communication skills with business customers and translating tech to business terms.
• Experience with incident, problem and change management processes (ITIL) and ticket systems.

Responsibilities

• Writing and reviewing quality code and technical design documents.
• Understand client use cases and translate them into technical requirements for development.
• Map decisions to requirements and guide developers accordingly.
• Identify multiple solutions and select the best option to meet client needs.
• Define guidelines and benchmarks for non-functional requirements during projects.
• Review architecture and design for extensibility, security, scalability, and best practices.
• Develop and design solutions meeting functional and non-functional requirements with appropriate tech choices.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Total experience: 5+ years.
• Excellent knowledge and experience in Java Support Engineer role.
• Flexible to work in 24x7 rotational shifts from Gurugram office.
• Strong working experience with Java Support, Linux/Unix Commands, Application/Production Support, ITIL, Incident Management, Databases (SQL/Sybase/MySQL/Oracle).
• Excellent communication skills, experience dealing with business customers and translating technology into business terms.
• Strong and wide-reaching technical skills enabling deep analysis and fast issue resolution, ideally you would have:

1. Experienced with Unix / Linux systems
2. Support of applications running under Java/J2EE
3. Strong SQL ability and understanding of databases mainly Sybase, Oracle, Postgress, MSSQL
4. Supporting applications running in a cloud and on-prem environment
5. Understanding of basic networking and different file transfer methods (SFTP, MQ, API)

• A strong desire to learn and seek knowledge independently.
• Very strong problem definition & solving skills.
• A proactive and flexible approach to work.
• Thorough understanding of Incident, Problem and Change Management processes, experience in ITIL Service Operations or similar IT Operations framework.
• Experience in the use of BMC Remedy, Jira Service Desk or similar ticket handling system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Writing and reviewing great quality code.
• Understanding the clients business use cases and technical requirements and be able to convert them into technical design which elegantly meets the requirements.
• Mapping decisions with requirements and be able to translate the same to developers.
• Identifying different solutions and being able to narrow down the best option that meets the clients requirements.
• Defining guidelines and benchmarks for NFR considerations during project implementation.
• Writing and reviewing design document explaining overall architecture, framework, and high-level design of the application for the developers.
• Reviewing architecture and design on various aspects like extensibility, scalability, security, design patterns, user experience, NFRs, etc., and ensure that all relevant best practices are followed.
• Developing and designing the overall solution for defined functional and non-functional requirements; and defining technologies, patterns, and frameworks to materialize it.
• Understanding and relating technology integration scenarios and applying these learnings in projects.
