Job summary

Microland Limited is seeking a Senior Unix/Linux Administrator in Bengaluru, India. You will configure, monitor, and maintain Linux systems, perform OS management, and drive incident resolution. The role requires an Any Graduate background and RH254 certification, with involvement in RFCs, CAB approvals, and handover reporting.

You will manage user accounts, packages, and network settings; coordinate with L2/L3 teams and vendors to resolve complex issues and ensure SLA compliance.

Qualifications

• Triage to resolve Unix/Linux issues at L3 level.
• Configure and manage user accounts, packages, and services on Linux systems.
• Configure networking and firewall settings; monitor system performance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare RFCs and present changes for CAB approval.
• Analyze repeated incidents and propose permanent fixes.
• Gather data from vendors/customers and update tickets per process.
• Handover reports with plan of action for next shift.
• Follow escalation matrices and ensure timely ticket closures.
• Maintain inventory of network equipment and links.
• Monitor SLA adherence and escalate deviations.

Skills required are :

• Troubleshooting and Management: OS related issues,
• OS Management - Server build/ Decommissioning domain, creating scripts for daily/weekly tasks
• Restoration and other responsibilities: Work on resolution of complex or escalated issues from L2 engineer. Preparing RCA for major incidents and problem tickets.
• Triage: Generally the L3 is the final level of escalation for all Unix and Linux related issues. However in the event of an un-resolved incident which is taking longer than expected, the L3 engineer is required to co-ordinate with the Data Center TDU COE team to get expert help and work towards the resolution of incidents. They will also engage and work with the respective TAC teams to resolve any product related issues or software bugs

Process::

• Prepare RFCs and represent RFC in the CAB for approval of changes. Assign approved changes to L2 group to implement them
• Conduct repeat incident analysis to identify proactive problem tickets and work on the permanent fix for the issues
• Gather information from vendor, customer, analysis from the troubleshooting/investigation, resolution steps implemented etc. and update the tickets regularly, as per the defined process.
• Prepare a detailed report on the plan of action for the existing tickets for the next shift and nbsp; engineer (Shift Handover Report),
• Follow-through and execute the various Escalation Matrix (Vendor , Internal and Customer defined),
• Ensure tickets are closed post user/customer communication,
• Maintain inventory of Network equipment s and links,
• Constantly track tickets for SLA adherence and elevate on deviations as defined in the process.
