Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a System Administrator L2 (Linux) in Navi Mumbai to manage Linux servers, RHEL/CentOS environments, and virtualization with RHEV. The role involves configuring firewalls, patching, log monitoring, and ensuring security per client requirements.

The candidate should be proficient in shell/Perl/Python scripting, know WebLogic/Apache, and be ready for 24x7 support rotations, including weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience installing and configuring RHEL 6/7/8 and CentOS.
• Configuring firewall and applying OS patches as per client requirements.
• Troubleshooting Linux performance, backups, and incident handling.
• Knowledge of DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP; scripting in shells, Perl or Python.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and implement RHEL 6/7/8 and CentOS OS, including RHEV virtualization.
• ACL and firewall configuration on Linux; perform OS upgrades and patching; monitor server logs.
• Troubleshoot performance issues on Linux; coordinate with OEMs for issue resolution.
• Maintain knowledge of WebLogic and Apache; ensure security configurations per client needs.
• Develop scripts in Shell/Perl/Python; participate in 24x7 support and weekend rotations.

Role- System Administrator L2 (Linux)

Required Technical Skill Set-Linux Administrator

Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)-

1) Strong Linux RHEL/CENTOS L2 along with cluster administration

2) Knowledge on SAN environment

3) Linux Security configurations

Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role -

• Installation, configuration and implementation of RHEL 6,7,8 and CENTOS OS, RHEV Virtualisation.
• ACL, Configuration and implementation of firewall on Linux as per the requirement, RHEL OS upgradation and frequent patching of the OS. Server Logs monitoring (Take necessary actions as per incidents and errors reported in the logs. Syslog's, event logs etc). Performing secured configuration on RHEL/CENTOS as per the client requirements
• Trouble shooting on the performance issues in RHEL/CENTOS (or any LINUX OS). Performing system backups as per the client requirements. Co-ordinating with the various OEM's for resolving issues
• Knowledge on weblogic and Apache will be added advantage. Maintenance and recovery mode to be performed for resolving issues. Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
• Expert in Shell, perl or python scripting. Experience with Linux Servers iun virtualized environments. Willing to work in 24*7 support and even on weekends supports as per the client requirements.
