Job Description

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day warehouse operations related to household goods, office relocations, storage services, packing materials, and inventory control. The role ensures safe handling, accurate documentation, efficient space utilization, compliance with safety standards, and timely operational support while maintaining high levels of service quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

• Manage inbound and outbound movement of household goods, office assets, and storage items.
• Ensure proper receipt, labeling, storage, racking, and dispatch of goods.
• Plan and optimize warehouse space for both short-term and long-term storage requirements.
• Coordinate loading and unloading schedules with move coordinators and transport teams.
• Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency.

Inventory & Documentation

• Maintain accurate inventory records through manual systems or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Track packed, stored, and dispatched items using job numbers and inventory controls.
• Ensure proper tagging, barcoding, and condition reporting of all goods.
• Conduct inventory audits, periodic stock verification, and maintain storage documentation.
• Monitor and control packing material inventory including cartons, crates, blankets, straps, and related supplies.

Team Management

• Supervise warehouse supervisors, packers, loaders, and helpers.
• Allocate manpower according to daily movement schedules and warehouse workloads.
• Train staff on packing standards, material handling techniques, and safety procedures.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, discipline, and overall team performance.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with warehouse safety, fire, and operational regulations.
• Enforce safe handling practices for fragile, heavy, and high-value items.
• Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks.
• Investigate and report damages, incidents, accidents, and near misses.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and material handling equipment.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate closely with operations, sales, move coordinators, and transport teams.
• Support survey and operations teams during peak moving periods.
• Provide regular warehouse performance and status updates to management.
• Handle client visits and storage inspections professionally.

Quality & Customer Service

• Ensure packing, storage, and handling processes meet company and client quality standards.
• Minimize damages, losses, and customer claims.
• Support damage inspections and claims documentation processes.
• Maintain service level agreements (SLAs) and operational commitments.
• Optimize warehouse space, labor utilization, and operational efficiency.
• Reduce material wastage and control operational costs.
• Monitor vendor services such as forklifts, pest control, and housekeeping.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field preferred.
• 5-10 years of experience in warehouse operations, preferably within the moving, relocation, logistics, or storage industry.
• Strong understanding of household goods handling, storage practices, and packing standards.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Good knowledge of warehouse safety practices and inventory systems.
• Ability to work under pressure during peak operational periods.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and basic inventory management systems.
