Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and control production targets and daily targets.
  • Lead shop floor teams across fabrication, welding, assembly, and testing.
  • Drive Lean, Kaizen, 5S, and TPM to improve OEE and reduce waste.
  • Ensure quality standards, process SOPs, and safety compliance.

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager Production will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all manufacturing activities to ensure achievement of production targets, quality standards, delivery commitments, cost optimization, and continuous improvement objectives. The role requires strong leadership capabilities, hands-on shop floor management experience, and expertise in Lean Manufacturing practices within automotive or auto-component manufacturing environments.

Educational Qualification
  • Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Additional certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or Industrial Engineering will be an added advantage.
Experience
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supervisory or team leadership roles.
  • Experience in Automotive, Auto Components, EV Manufacturing, Sheet Metal, Fabrication, Welding, Chassis Assembly, Vehicle Assembly, or related industries is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Control
  • Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
  • Execute production plans in line with customer demand and business requirements.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Purchase, Stores, Quality, and Maintenance departments to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Monitor machine utilization, manpower deployment, and production efficiency.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of resources while minimizing downtime and bottlenecks.
  • Track production output and take corrective actions for deviations.
2. Shop Floor Operations Management
  • Lead and supervise production teams across fabrication, welding, assembly, testing, and vehicle integration processes.
  • Monitor cycle times, takt time, productivity, line balancing, and throughput.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of EV vehicle assembly lines and sub-assembly operations.
  • Maintain production records, shift reports, and daily MIS.
  • Drive operational discipline and adherence to production schedules.
3. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies across the plant.
  • Drive Kaizen initiatives for productivity enhancement and cost reduction.
  • Lead waste elimination programs focused on manpower, material, motion, inventory, defects, and waiting time.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), line efficiency, and resource utilization.
  • Support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) activities.
4. Quality & Process Excellence
  • Ensure compliance with customer quality requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to reduce defects, rejections, and rework.
  • Implement and sustain SOPs, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and Process Standards.
  • Support quality improvement projects and process capability enhancement.
  • Ensure first-time-right manufacturing practices.
5. EV Vehicle Assembly & Process Management
  • Monitor vehicle assembly operations including chassis assembly, battery integration, motor installation, wiring harness assembly, final assembly, and testing.
  • Ensure process adherence during battery handling and electrical assembly operations.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Quality teams for new product introduction and process improvements.
  • Support production ramp-up for new EV models and variants.
6. Safety, Environment & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Promote safe working practices across all production areas.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory requirements and company safety policies.
  • Drive workplace organization through implementation of 5S practices.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and corrective actions.
7. Team Management & Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop production supervisors, operators, and technicians.
  • Conduct training programs to enhance employee skills and productivity.
  • Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage workforce discipline and employee engagement on the shop floor.
