Job summary

SONA BLW PRECISION FORGINGS LIMITED is seeking an Engineer / Senior Engineer (MFG-EV) in Chennai to lead production planning, drive efficiency, and ensure quality in EV manufacturing processes. The role requires 4–12 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing with strong GD&T and tooling drawing skills.

Responsibilities include PFMEA, APQP, Control Plans, 5S, audits, DOE, and continuous improvement activities to reduce waste and downtime.

Qualifications

• Drawing reading and interpretation.
• Drafting knowledge using CAD is preferable.
• Exposure to assembly shop operations and cutting tools.
• Experience in motor manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Ability to generate tooling drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T.
• Basic electrical knowledge.
• Starter motor knowledge.

• Meet daily production targets through planning.
• Attend and resolve minor equipment breakdowns.
• Generate PFMEA, APQP and Control Plan documents.
• Maintain shop floor 5S and ensure product quality.
• Adhere to IATF, TS16949, ISO 14000 and safety systems.
• Close internal and external audit non-conformances.
• Perform manpower planning.
• Conduct cycle time studies and bottleneck reduction.
• Improve equipment uptime through planning and execution.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Eliminate waste through Kaizen and group activities.
• Apply 8D problem-solving techniques for complaints.
• Prepare weekly MIS and BOS reports.
• Facilitate FCR and PPAP builds.
• Conduct DOE (Design of Experiments).
• Ensure effective written and oral communication.
• Implement and maintain poka-yoke systems.
• Motivate employees and promote teamwork.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Meet daily production targets through effective daily and hourly planning using PDCA.

• Maintain shop floor 5S and ensure product quality requirements.
