Job description

Assistant Engineer Mechanical Position

Department: Plant Engineering

Reporting: Engineering Manager

Responsibilities:

• Carry out fault finding, troubleshooting, and maintenance of rotating equipment such as centrifugal pumps, screw pumps, diaphragm pumps, rotary vacuum filters, mixers, gearboxes, agitators, cooling towers, chillers, separators, clarifiers, centrifuges, extruders, mixer granulators, packing wrap machines, etc.
• Perform bearing assembly/dismantling, mechanical seal repair/replacement, troubleshoot hoists/cranes, and piping assembly/dismantling.
• Implement Integrated Management System and ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 15001, ISO 18001, ISO 22000) and 5S; apply TPM knowledge; prepare SOPs, PM plans, shutdown checklists, and material requirements.
• Lead a team of mechanical technicians and execute preventive, predictive, breakdown, condition‑monitoring, and improvement jobs in the plant.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & manufacturing instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Maintain hydraulic systems, heat exchangers, condensers, compressors, chilling plant, air conditioners, HVAC, and multistage pumps.
• Assist maintenance of steam turbines, DG sets, RO plant, MEE plant, lobe-type blowers, decanters, boiler equipment (incl. multistage pumps), coal‑handling plant, impeller fan assemblies, soot blowers, traveling grate, etc.
• Respond immediately to breakdown maintenance, perform root‑cause analysis, CAPA, and coordinate execution with the production department.
• Carry out precise shaft alignment of rotating machines using laser alignment kits and dial gauges; handle condition‑monitoring tools.
• Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 to execute maintenance orders, job plans, material issue slips, and close orders; maintain history cards.
• Perform safety work management: job safety analysis, permit system, LOTO, TBT before execution.
• Promote safe and smooth execution of daily activities to achieve zero accidents.
• Coordinate with external service providers for AMC services or emergency requirements.
• Participate in organization‑wide cost‑saving schemes (energy, manpower, innovations).
• Align performance with organizational objectives and job KPIs.

Submit daily reports to the Manager and monthly reports as per the Management Information System.
