Role Summary:

Responsible for mechanical maintenance of chemical plant equipment including gearboxes, motors, glass-lined reactors, vacuum systems, cooling towers and brine plants, along with fabrication, troubleshooting, drawing/P&ID reading and day-to-day plant maintenance.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment in the chemical manufacturing plant.
• Handle maintenance and troubleshooting of gearboxes, motors, pumps, reactors and other plant machinery.
• Maintain and troubleshoot glass-lined reactors and associated mechanical equipment.
• Handle vacuum systems and vacuum pumps and ensure their smooth operation.
• Monitor and maintain cooling towers, brine plants and utility equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical diagrams and P&ID for maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
• Identify equipment breakdowns, diagnose root causes and carry out appropriate corrective actions.
• Coordinate and supervise fabrication, repair and modification work as required.
• Monitor day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities and ensure equipment availability for production.
• Coordinate with technicians, contractors and vendors for maintenance and repair activities.
• Check and verify vendor/service bills, quotations and maintenance-related documentation.
• Maintain records of preventive maintenance, breakdowns, repairs and equipment history.
• Ensure proper availability and usage of mechanical spares, tools and consumables.
• Support maintenance planning and ensure timely completion of assigned maintenance activities.
• Follow plant safety procedures, maintenance standards and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with Production and other departments to minimize equipment downtime and ensure smooth plant operations.
• Participate in equipment inspections, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities.
• Handle additional mechanical maintenance activities and responsibilities assigned by the reporting manager.
