Job summary

UNIVASTU in Mumbai seeks an experienced Store Manager for electrical materials across railway, metro, and infrastructure projects. You will oversee receipt, storage, and ERP-driven transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in railway/infrastructure stores, hands-on ERP experience (SAP/Oracle/Tally), and a proven ability to lead store teams across multiple sites in Mumbai with strict QA/QC adherence.

Qualifications

Job description

Role & responsibilities
A) Store Management & Inventory Control
  • Lead the receipt, inspection, and storage of electrical materials such as cables, conduits, switchgear, MCBs/ MCCBs, transformers, panels, earthing materials, OHE components, and signalling equipment as per project specifications.
  • Oversee accurate stock records, bin cards, and material ledgers; ensure periodic and surprise stock verification across all project stores.
  • Ensure proper identification, labelling, and segregation of materials including FIFO/FEFO practices.
  • Approve and supervise material issuance to site teams with proper gate passes, material requisition slips, and issue vouchers.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team for raising and tracking indent requests on time to avoid material shortages.
  • Plan and forecast material requirements for multiple project phases and sites.
B) ERP System Operations
  • Own and govern ERP system usage (SAP / Oracle / Tally or equivalent) for all store transactions GRN, material issue, returns, and reconciliation.
  • Review ERP-based reports including stock status, material ageing, indent status, and consumption reports, and present insights to senior management.
  • Ensure all store transactions are updated in ERP in real-time; lead resolution of discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
  • Drive implementation and continuous improvement of ERP workflows related to stores and inventory management.
  • Coordinate with IT and accounts teams for ERP-related issues and data accuracy.
C) Railway / Infrastructure / Metro Project Store Operations
  • Manage and oversee project-specific stores at railway and metro construction sites including depot materials, OHE hardware, traction cable drums, and trackside electrical equipment.
  • Coordinate with site engineers and project managers for daily material requirements and urgent procurement.
  • Lead inspection and acceptance of materials as per Railway Board / RDSO / Metro / client specifications.
  • Ensure site store records are compliant with Railway and Metro project audit requirements and client documentation standards.
  • Ensure safe stacking and storage of heavy electrical equipment, cable drums, and sensitive instrumentation across multiple stores.
D) Documentation & Compliance
  • Review and approve GRNs, delivery challans, inspection reports, rejection notes, and material return forms.
  • Lead internal and external audits by ensuring accurate, up-to-date store documentation across project sites.
  • Ensure strict compliance with QA/QC procedures and ISO 9001:2015 documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate with accounts and finance for invoice verification against GRNs and vendor reconciliation.
  • Maintain and audit records of warranties, test certificates, and third-party inspection reports for critical electrical materials.
E) Coordination, Team Leadership & Reporting
  • Liaise with vendors, logistics partners, and site teams for timely delivery and dispatch of materials.
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly MIS reports on inventory levels, material consumption, and pending indents to senior management.
  • Support senior management in planning material requirements for upcoming project phases and new project mobilizations.
  • Lead, train, and supervise Store Executives, store helpers, and loading/unloading staff; ensure safe material handling practices across sites.
  • Act as a key point of escalation for store-related issues across multiple project sites.
Preferred Skills
  • ERP Systems SAP MM / Oracle / Tally or equivalent (Mandatory); strong hands-on experience in GRN, indent, and inventory modules.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical materials used in Railway, Metro, and infrastructure projects cables, switchgear, panels, OHE hardware, earthing, and traction equipment.
  • Strong familiarity with Railway / RDSO / Railway Board material standards and acceptance criteria; Metro project standards exposure preferred.
  • Strong understanding of store management principles FIFO, material coding, bin management, and stock reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC documentation requirements under ISO 9001:2015.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Excel, Word for MIS reports and inventory tracking.
  • Proven team leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor store executives and support staff.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent written communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple material streams and sites simultaneously.
  • Prior experience on EPC / LSTK railway and metro contracts with government or international clients is desirable

  • Location - Wadala, Mumbai
  • Experience - 10+ Years Total with minimum 5 Years in Railway / Infrastructure Projects; Metro project experience preferred.
  • Software - ERP Mandatory; MS Office Excel, Word.
  • Industry - EPC / Railway / Civil Infrastructure / Metro Projects
  • Preference Candidates with hands-on experience in electrical material store management and ERP operations on Railway / Metro projects will be given preference
