Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Material Receipt & Inspection
- Coordinateand oversee the physical receipt of all incoming project materials, bulkcommodities (cement, steel, aggregates), machinery parts, and safety gear.
- Validateincoming deliveries against Purchase Orders (PO), Delivery Challans (DC),and Invoice documentation to ensure quantity accuracy.
- Conductpreliminary visual quality inspections of materials; flag damages,shortages, or discrepancies immediately to the Project Manager andProcurement team.
- Supervisethe safe unloading and strategic positioning of heavy materials atdesignated yard zones.
2. Inventory Management & Storage
- Organizeand maintain the site store layouts systematically to ensure easyaccessibility, optimal space utilization, and compliance with safetyprotocols.
- Implementstrict inventory preservation measures to protect sensitive items fromweather damage, theft, or deterioration.
- Applystrict FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or FEFO (First-Expired,First-Out) principles, particularly for perishable construction itemslike cement and chemical additives.
- Maintainan up-to-date Bin Card system and log all material entries/exits inthe company’s ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or customized constructionsoftware) daily.
3. Material Issuance & Reconciliation
- Issuematerials, tools, and consumables to site sub-contractors and internalengineering teams strictly against approved Material Requisition Notes(MRN).
- Monitordaily consumption rates and maintain precise records of tools or equipmentissued on a returnable basis.
- Conductphysical stock reconciliation on a weekly and monthly basis; investigateand report any discrepancies between physical stock and ERP records.
- Trackminimum stock levels (reorder points) and proactively raise materialpurchase requisitions to prevent critical shortages.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Generate,track, and archive vital site documentation including Goods Receipt Notes(GRN), Material Issue Vouchers (MIV), and Daily Material Status reports.
- Maintaina dedicated register for scrap material, damaged items, and surplus goods;coordinate their authorized disposal or return to the central warehouse.
- Provideaccurate weekly stock availability data to Project Managers to align withupcoming construction schedules.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
Experience & Education
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply ChainManagement, or a Diploma in Material Management / Civil Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 to 10 years of proven experience as a Store Keeperspecifically within the infrastructure development, civil construction, orheavy engineering sectors.
Technical & Core Skills
- ERPProficiency: Hands-on experience working with ERP material managementmodules (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent construction inventory managementtools).
- InventoryControl: Strong knowledge of inventory handling standards, materialcoding, and bulk material storage rules for infrastructure projects.
- Documentation: Absolute clarity in handling logistical paperwork, tax invoices, transitinsurance, and regulatory compliance documents.
- PhysicalStamina: Comfort working in rugged site office environments, activeconstruction yards, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Organization: Exceptional capability to multi-task and bring systematic structure tohigh-volume, fast-moving site environments.
- Communication& Integrity: Strong interpersonal skills to interface firmly yetprofessionally with sub-contractors, labourers, and vendors whilemaintaining uncompromising ethical standards.
- Location: Based entirely at the active infrastructure project site office.
- ReportingTo: Store Manager / Material Controller with dotted-line reporting tothe Project Site Manager.
- Schedule: Full-time (Requires flexibility to align with project schedules, includingoccasional overtime during critical concrete pours or large materialarrivals).
