Job summary

Ultra Corpotech in Pune seeks an experienced Asst. Manager Production to lead shop floor operations, ensuring quality, productivity and on-time delivery. You will supervise fabricators, welders, fitters and grinders, coordinate workloads and implement lean practices.

The role requires 10–15 years in heavy fabrication with GD&T knowledge, strong Excel skills, and customer handling, focusing on safety and ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical.
• 10–15 years of production/operations experience.
• Strong welding, fabrication, and manufacturing process knowledge.
• GD&T knowledge.
• Excel for technical documentation.
• Customer handling experience.
• KPI awareness: KPI oriented sales, customer satisfaction, on-time delivery, COPQ & PPM.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production processes on shop/site and ensure adherence to quality parameters.
• Knowledge of heavy fabrication / sheet metal fabrication.
• Coordinate workload and distribute work among workers.
• Supervise welders, fabricators, fitters, and grinders to complete workload on time.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and welding standards.
• Inspect per project QAP to ensure product quality.
• Resolve drawing-related production issues and clarify for production.
• Escalate complex fabrication challenges (heat treatment, material traceability, weld deviations).
• Implement Lean Manufacturing or process improvements to reduce waste.
• Own Weld Reject Rates and NDT pass rates.
• Foster a Safety First culture with OSHA/HSE compliance.
• Interface with Project Managers, Engineering, and Clients at Hold Points and inspections.
• Collaborate with Procurement to manage long-lead raw materials for uninterrupted production.
• Know IMS standards: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.

• Strong understanding Drawing knowledge of weld symbols as per given standard


• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes especially Heavy Fabrication, including CNC/VMC/HMC machining, fabrication, welding, casting, and forging.


• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).


• Proficiency in MS Excel for technical documentation


• Customer handling experience.


• KPI awareness (KPI oriented Sale, Customer satisfaction, OTD, COPQ & PPM)

Main responsibility

• Monitoring of production processes on shop/site & check that the process is carrying under control parameters of quality or not.


• Knowledge of heavy fabrication / sheet metal fabrication.


• Coordinate the workload and distribute the work amongst the workers.


• Supervise the appointed workers (Fabricator, Welders, fitter, and Grinderman) and effectively complete the workload in the allocated time frames.


• Knowledge of Welding techniques & Welding Stranders


• Carrying & monitoring inspection as per respective project QAP to ensure the product quality


• Solve production related drawing difficulties & make it clear for production.


• Act as the first point of escalation for complex fabrication challenges, including heat treatment requirements, material traceability issues, and weld procedure deviations.


• Implement Lean Manufacturing or process related methodologies to reduce \"waste\" in heavy movement and material handling.


• Serve as the final point of accountability for Weld Reject Rates and NDT pass rates.


• Foster a \"Safety First\" culture, ensuring 100% compliance with OSHA or local HSE regulations.


• Interface with Project Managers, Engineering, and Clients during \"Hold Points\" and final inspections.


• Collaborate with Procurement to manage long-lead raw materials (e.g., specialized alloys) to ensure zero disruptions to the production line.
