Job Overview
Fabrication Fitter – responsible for assembling, fitting, and fabricating metal components and structures according to technical drawings and specifications. Role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various tools and machinery to produce high‑quality fabricated products.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine fitting requirements.
- Assemble and fit metal parts by aligning, grinding, and adjusting components to ensure proper fit.
- Mark, measure, and cut materials accurately before assembly.
- Use hand tools, power tools, gas cutting, and machinery such as grinders, drills, and fitting equipment.
- Assist in welding preparation and ensure parts are correctly positioned prior to welding.
- Maintain rigorous adherence to safety standards and procedures, identify, report, and address safety risks immediately.
- Weld turbine and generator components using appropriate welding techniques (TIG, MIG, SMAW, SAW).
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of experience in heavy fabrication or pressure vessel fabrication.
- Proven experience as a Heavy Fabrication Fitter.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of welding process basics, EHS guidelines, and risk assessment during inspection activities.
- Qualified in GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), SMAW, and SAW welding processes.
- Experience performing groove welds (Tjoints, knuckle, corner, butt joints for thickness up to 40mm).
- Understanding of WPS/PQR/WPQ/Weld Book.
- ITI welder qualification or equivalent education (ITI fitter, diploma, technical training or apprenticeship).
- Strong safety mindset and proficiency with welding safety procedures.
