Job summary

SV Management Consultants seeks a Battery Systems Engineer & Product Development Engineer to own the technical integration, architectural layout, and safety logic of advanced battery systems.

The role bridges cell chemistry, mechanical packaging, and battery pack architecture, including HV electrical architecture, thermal management, and cooling concepts. You will assess automotive regulations and translate them into battery system requirements for production.

Qualifications

• Experience in defining System Requirements, Functional Requirements and Interface requirements.
• Ability to lead battery pack system architecture from concept through production.
• Experience creating technical docs like SyRS, ICDs, and design reviews.
• Knowledge of automotive regulations and industry standards and applying them to products.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage Battery System Requirements, Functional Requirements, and Interface requirements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Lead the development of Battery Pack system architecture from concept through production, ensuring performance, safety, cost, and quality objectives.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as System Requirement Specifications (SyRS) and Interface Control Documents (ICD).
• Monitor automotive regulations and industry standards and implement updates into battery system requirements.
• Develop battery pack architecture including cell selection, module configuration, HV electrical architecture, thermal management, and cooling concepts.
• Define HV components system architecture (contactors, pre-charge, HVIL, MSD, sensors, isolation monitoring, HV distribution).
• Analyze field/lab data to optimize BMS parameters, cell balancing, and thermal performance.
• Coordinate with battery suppliers, review designs, simulations, DFMEA, and verification activities.
• Manage full product development lifecycle from concept to production readiness.
• Lead Value Analysis and Value Engineering to reduce cost and enable localization.
• Benchmark competitors and new technologies for future roadmap planning.
• Support cross-functional teams across Vehicle Integration, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Service, and Homologation.
• Drive risk assessments and DFMEA activities to ensure robust battery system designs.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between cell chemistry, mechanical packaging, and battery pack architecture, including cell selection, module configuration, HV electrical architecture, thermal management, mechanical packaging, and cooling concepts. Need to assess new automotive regulations and industry standards, evaluate their impact on existing products, and ensure timely implementation into battery system requirements.

Technical Requirements:

• Define and manage Battery System Requirements, Functional Requirements, and Interface requirements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Lead the development of Battery Pack system architecture from concept through production, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, cost, and quality objectives.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as System Requirement Specifications (SyRS), Interface Control Documents (ICD), technical specifications, engineering change requests, and design review reports.
• Monitor and assess new automotive regulations and industry standards, evaluate their impact on existing products, and ensure timely implementation into battery system requirements.
• Develop battery pack architecture, including cell selection, module configuration, HV electrical architecture, thermal management, mechanical packaging, and cooling concepts.
• Define the system architecture for HV components such as contactors, pre-charge circuits, HVIL, main fuse, manual service disconnect (MSD), current sensors, isolation monitoring, and HV distribution.
• Data Analysis: Analyse field and laboratory test logs to optimize BMS parameters, cell balancing efficiency, and overall system thermal performance.
• Coordinate technical discussions with battery suppliers and review system designs, technical documents, simulations, DFMEA, and design verification activities.
• Manage the complete product development lifecycle, including concept development, design reviews, prototype builds, validation support, and production readiness.
• Lead Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to optimize product cost, improve manufacturability, and identify opportunities for localization and design improvements.
• Benchmark competitor battery systems and emerging technologies to support future product planning and technology roadmap development.
• Support cross-functional teams including Vehicle Integration, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Service, and Homologation throughout the product development cycle.
