Assistant General Manager_Battery Systems Engineering and Architecture

Role Overview
Lead key workstreams within Battery Systems Engineering & Architecture for HV Li-ion battery systems in BEV applications. Own system requirements, battery architecture, sizing, BEV energy management and vehicle integration from concept through validation and SOP, while supporting the DGM in building a strong systems engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead BEV battery systems engineering from concept architecture through validation and SOP.
- Translate vehicle requirements for range, energy, power, charging, performance, thermal behavior and battery life into system requirements.
- Own battery sizing and architecture covering voltage, energy/power, cell/module configuration, BMS, HV distribution, contactors, pre-charge, HVIL, sensing, cooling and vehicle interfaces.
- Develop BEV energy-management strategies covering SOC windows, power limits, regenerative braking, charge/discharge management and thermal derating.
- Define system requirements, functional interfaces, operating modes, diagnostics, fault handling and protection strategies.
- Drive cross-functional integration with BMS, Cell Technology, Pack Engineering, Vehicle Controls, Thermal, Charging, Powertrain and Software teams.
- Support drive-cycle analysis, energy-consumption modeling, battery sizing and system optimization.
- Lead system-level trade-offs across range, power, weight, cost, safety, thermal performance, reliability and life.
- Provide system inputs for SOC/SOH/SOP algorithms, BMS functions and battery operating strategies.
- Drive DFMEA, functional safety inputs, requirements traceability and validation planning.
- Support prototype builds, vehicle integration, calibration, testing and resolution of complex system-level issues.
- Coordinate with suppliers, technology partners and top-tier Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) on system requirements and technical solutions.
- Develop system engineering standards, reusable architectures and design guidelines; mentor engineers within the function.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Controls or related engineering.
- 8+ years of HV Li-ion battery systems engineering/architecture experience, with strong automotive/BEV exposure.
- Proven experience in BEV battery development and vehicle integration.
- Strong expertise in battery sizing, energy management, SOC management, regenerative braking, power limits and thermal derating.
- Strong understanding of BMS architecture, SOC/SOH/SOP, balancing, diagnostics and protection.
- Good knowledge of HV architecture, contactors, pre-charge, HVIL, isolation monitoring, fusing and HV safety.
- Experience with drive-cycle analysis, battery energy modeling and system simulation.
- Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, Python or equivalent engineering tools.
- Understanding of functional safety, DFMEA, requirements engineering and system validation.

- Experience with suppliers, technology partners and top-tier ESPs is highly desirable.

- International/overseas engineering exposure is an advantage.
