Job summary

Agratas in India is seeking an Automation Maintenance Engineer for the Lithium-ion pilot-line. You will lead hands-on troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and VFDs, and work with mechanical and electrical teams to resolve complex breakdowns.

The role requires 5–8 years of experience in highly automated manufacturing, familiarity with FMEA, TPM, OEE, RCA, CAPA, and problem-solving tools, and a track record of improving equipment reliability during greenfield start-up and ramp-up phases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on automation maintenance in highly automated manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, sensors and actuators.
• Experience with reliability tools and problem-solving methods (8D, 5-Why, Six Sigma).

Responsibilities

• Support Greenfield startup: installation, commissioning, and ramp-up of pilot line.
• Troubleshoot PLC/HMI, SCADA, sensors, actuators; verify I/O and interlocks.
• Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical engineers on failures.
• Develop maintenance standards, checklists, SOPs and troubleshooting guides.
• Identify reliability risks and drive closure during startup.

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for equipment availability and reliability of pilot‑line automation and control systems through hands‑on PLC/controls troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, RCA and continuous improvement. Automation is the primary technical specialisation, while the engineer works jointly with Mechanical and Electrical engineers on every significant breakdown.

Key Responsibility Areas

Greenfield

• Support equipment installation, commissioning, trials and ramp‑up of the pilot line.

• Work with OEMs, system integrators, contractors and internal engineering teams during installation and commissioning.

• Review equipment documentation, drawings and maintainability/accessibility before handover.

• Support development of maintenance standards, checklists, SOPs and troubleshooting guides.

• Identify reliability and maintainability risks during the Greenfield/start‑up phase and drive closure

• Support PLC/HMI commissioning, machine trials, integration and ramp‑up.

Desired - Knowledge of Lithium ion cell manufacturing, with pilot‑line commissioning/ramp‑up experience and hands‑on experience in PLC / VFD, FMEA, TPM, OEE and reliability improvement.

• Analyse downtime, alarms and recurring automation failures and implement permanent corrective actions.

• Maintain PLC/HMI backups, I/O lists, control documentation and troubleshooting guides

Knowledge Specific

Essential- Minimum 5- 8 years of hands‑on automation maintenance experience in Lithium‑ion Cell Manufacturing, Paint, Solar Cell or other highly automated manufacturing industries, with strong knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, sensors, actuators, VFDs/servos, industrial communication and machine interlocks. Experience in breakdown maintenance, PM, troubleshooting, RCA, CAPA and problem‑solving tools such as 8D, 5‑Why, Six Sigma and 7 QC Tools.
