We are mainly focusing on melting Used Beverage Cans (UBC) into ingots. The Aluminium Induction Melting Supervisor will oversee furnace operations, raw material processing, and casting workflows to produce high-quality aluminium ingots. This role demands a strong mix of heavy industrial equipment handling, technical metallurgical knowledge, strict safety adherence, and practical experience managing Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) documentation.
1. Furnace Operations & Equipment Handling
- Supervise and operate medium to large-scale Coreless Induction Furnaces for aluminium ingot casting.
- Manage heavy foundry equipment, including overhead cranes, charging systems, ingot casting machines, and transfer ladles.
- Monitor critical maintenance parameters, including furnace refractory lining health, sintering heats, and cooling water systems.
2. Metallurgy & Ingot Quality
- Apply technical metallurgical knowledge to regulate liquid metal chemistry, temperature, and alloy compositions.
- Optimize raw material sorting, scrap management, and charge mix calculations.
- Execute precise melt treatments, including degassing, fluxing, and dross skimming to minimize inclusions and porosity.
- Utilize spectrometers to analyze and correct chemical compositions during the heat.
3. BIS Documentation & Compliance
- Manage Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) product certification records for aluminium ingots (e.g., matching requirements for IS 617, IS 11890, or relevant standards).
- Maintain logs, quality inspection sheets, raw material test certificates, and equipment calibration registers for routine factory inspections.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to manage Quality Assurance Plans (QAP) and generate dispatch Test Certificates (TC).
4. Safety & Shop Floor Leadership
- Enforce rigorous heavy industry safety standards, risk assessment protocols, and strict PPE compliance around molten metal.
- Coordinate shift schedules, execute daily manpower allocation, and lead toolbox safety talks.
- Focus on reducing metal loss, minimizing dross generation, and maximizing furnace efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical, or Production Engineering (or equivalent practical technical experience).
- Strong communication skills to effectively manage shop-floor technicians and report to plant management.
