Job summary

Hindalco Industries in India is seeking an experienced operator for induction furnace runs. The role covers startup, steady-state and shutdown, with strict adherence to melt chemistry and dross removal practices.

You will manage copper, aluminium or brass melting with precise master alloy additions and log all process data. The position requires hands-on experience in non-ferrous melting, strong log-book discipline and PPE compliance for safe shift work in a heavy foundry environment.

Qualifications

• 3 to 8 years in induction furnace, foundry or non-ferrous metal melting plant.
• Hands-on experience in copper, aluminium or brass melting — preferred.
• Understanding of melt chemistry control, dross removal and launder operation.

Responsibilities

• Operate induction melting furnace (2 melting + 1 holding) full shift cycle.
• Charge copper cathodes and Cu-P master alloy per recipe and chemistry requirement.
• Control melt chemistry Cu 99.9%, Phosphorus: 0.015%0.040%
• Remove dross from melt surface twice per shift — prevent oxide contamination
• Monitor and log all furnace parameters every 30 minutes — power, N pressure, cooling water
• Transfer molten metal to holding furnace via launders — monitor launder temperature
• Charge dry, traceable plant return scrap — confirm dry and oil-free before charging
• Coordinate with Cast House Lab for spectrometer chemistry results — 16 tests per shift
• Complete accurate shift log and handover — no gaps, no blank fields
