Job summary

ALONE is seeking a Volunteer Support Officer in Dublin South to recruit, train and support volunteers delivering Befriending and Support services for older people. The role is field-based with travel across Dublin South.

You will build a strong volunteer network, onboard and guide volunteers, and collaborate with the service team to place volunteers with clients in a timely manner. A full-time 35-hour week and driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Recruitment experience and experience in promoting services, developing partnerships, and fostering community participation a distinct advantage.
• Organisational and coordination skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Experience using CRM systems and digital tools for volunteer management, reporting and communication.
• Background in voluntary, charity, or social care sector desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and best practices including Garda clearance and ethics in volunteer management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with stakeholders.
• Collaborative team player with strong internal and external relationship building.
• Proactive problem-solver with ability to improve service delivery.
• Strong time management and organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet KPIs.
• A clean full driving licence with own car essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead recruitment, training, vetting, and onboarding of volunteers to build a strong network.
• Provide ongoing guidance, communication, and issue resolution to support volunteers.
• Work with ALONE’s service team to match trained volunteers with older people in a timely manner.
• Promote ALONE’s Befriending and Support services and identify local events to engage volunteers and older people.
• Implement programmes to enhance volunteer engagement and recognise contributions.
• Develop local volunteer leadership initiatives and organise social events to strengthen community connections.
• Support ongoing enhancement of ALONE’s volunteer programme to align with best practices.
