Job summary

ALONE is seeking a Volunteer Support Officer in Clonmel to recruit, train and support volunteers delivering Befriending and Support services for older people. This field-based, permanent role requires travel and a 35-hour week over five days.

You will build a strong volunteer network, manage onboarding, provide ongoing guidance, and collaborate with the service team to match volunteers with older people. A Garda vetting background and safeguarding knowledge are valued.

Qualifications

• Recruitment experience and promoting services, developing partnerships, and fostering community participation are valued.
• Organisations and coordination skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Experience using CRM systems and digital tools for volunteer management, reporting and communication.
• Background in voluntary, charity, or social care sectors is desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, Garda clearance, and ethical volunteer management practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborative team player with strong relationship-building abilities.
• Proactive problem-solver to improve service delivery for older people.

Responsibilities

• Lead recruitment, training, vetting and onboarding of volunteers to build a strong, prepared network.
• Provide ongoing guidance, communication, and issue resolution to volunteers.
