Job summary

Allied Health/Nursing is recruiting a Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist to join the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) based in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. The role focuses on paediatric speech and language therapy within a family-centred, multidisciplinary setting.

The successful candidate will work with families, schools and colleagues to support children’s communication, feeding and functional goals, delivering assessments, interventions and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy required.
• CORU registration required.
• Relevant clinical or placement experience.
• Strong communication, organisational and clinical reasoning skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, diagnosis and intervention for paediatric speech, language and feeding difficulties.
• Manage a paediatric caseload within a community setting.
• Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes and care plans.
• Support communication development and functional communication needs.
• Collaborate with families, schools and multidisciplinary team members.
• Deliver education and support to families and carers.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and service development initiatives.

Speech And Language Therapist - Co. Westmeath

We are currently recruiting a Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist to join the Children's Disability Network Team (CDNT) based in Mullingar.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary paediatric disability team providing Speech and Language Therapy services to children and young people with a range of developmental and complex needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary colleagues to support children in achieving their communication, feeding, and functional goals within a family-centred model of care.

Key Responsibilities of the Speech and Language Therapist:

• Provide assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for children presenting with speech, language, communication, and feeding/swallowing difficulties
• Manage a varied paediatric disability caseload within a community setting
• Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes and care plans
• Support children with communication development, speech sound difficulties, social interaction, language skills, and functional communication needs
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, and multidisciplinary team members including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Social Work, and Nursing
• Deliver education and support to families and caregivers
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, supervision, and service development initiatives

Requirements for the Speech and Language Therapist:

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• CORU registration
• Relevant clinical or placement experience
• Strong communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

• Experience working within paediatrics, disability services, or CDNT settings
• Experience supporting children with ASD, developmental delay, or complex communication needs
• Full driver's licence and access to own transport
