Job summary

Lumen Search in Ennis, Co. Clare, is seeking a Setting Out Engineer for a large residential development. You will carry out setting out and surveying duties, ensuring works align with drawings and the programme, and work closely with the site team to deliver quality results.

The role requires strong proficiency with total station and GPS equipment, and a solid understanding of drawings, levels and specifications. Prior setting-out experience in residential projects is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree or related qualification in Civil/Construction Engineering.
• Experience as Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer.
• Proficient with total station and GPS equipment.
• Strong reading of drawings, levels and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out and surveying duties across the development.
• Set out foundations, drainage, services, roads and external works.
• Use total station, GPS and other surveying equipment.
• Check levels, dimensions and coordinates throughout the works.
• Review drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies.
• Work closely with the Site Manager, Foreman and subcontractors.
• Assist with technical queries and resolve site issues as they arise.
• Monitor subcontractor works for accuracy and quality.
• Carry out quality checks and maintain site records.
• Assist with inspections, snagging and handover as the development progresses.
• Ensure works are delivered in line with the construction programme.

An established residential developer is looking to appoint a Setting Out Engineer for a large residential development in Ennis, Co. Clare.

The role will involve a mix of setting out, technical coordination and quality control, working closely with the site management team and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered accurately and in line with drawings, specifications and programme.

This would be a good opportunity for an Engineer looking to join a developer with a strong pipeline of residential work and gain exposure across the full delivery of a project.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out and surveying duties across the development
• Set out foundations, drainage, services, roads, housing and associated external works
• Use total station, GPS and other surveying equipment
• Check levels, dimensions and coordinates throughout the works
• Review drawings and specifications and identify any discrepancies
• Work closely with the Site Manager, General Foreman and subcontractors
• Assist with technical queries and resolve site issues as they arise
• Monitor subcontractor works for accuracy and quality
• Carry out quality checks and maintain relevant site records
• Assist with inspections, snagging and handover as the development progresses
• Ensure works are delivered in line with the construction programme

Requirements

• Degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline
• Previous experience working as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer
• Strong setting out experience and comfortable using total station and GPS equipment
• Good understanding of construction drawings, levels and specifications
• Strong technical and problem-solving ability
• Good communication skills and comfortable coordinating with subcontractors and the wider site team
• High-density residential experience would be a strong advantage
