Job summary

Lumen Search is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join a major residential development in North-East Dublin. The role focuses on technical coordination, drawings, quality, and site problem-solving, with a dedicated Setting Out Engineer reporting to you.

You will manage civils and infrastructure, coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and authorities, and drive delivery using Procore and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in the construction industry, with Senior Engineer level experience preferred.
• Experience delivering large residential developments (apartments/housing).
• Background in civils, groundworks, drainage and infrastructure is advantageous.
• Strong ability to review and coordinate construction drawings and technical submittals.
• Experience using Procore or similar construction management platforms.

Job description

The Role

An established residential developer and contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join the team delivering a major residential development in North-East Dublin.

The project comprises approximately 270 residential units across apartments and housing, together with a significant civils and infrastructure package. The development will include substantial groundworks, utilities and infrastructure works, including involvement in the delivery of a major pump station serving the wider area.

The Senior Engineer will operate in a structured project environment and take ownership of the technical and engineering coordination of the development.

The successful candidate will have a Setting Out Engineer working alongside/under them, allowing the Senior Engineer to concentrate on technical coordination, drawings, inspections, quality, subcontractor management and resolving engineering issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day engineering and technical requirements of the development.
• Manage the flow of technical information between the design team, site management team, subcontractors and consultants.
• Review construction drawings, specifications and design information, identifying discrepancies and raising RFIs where required.
• Manage and coordinate drawings to ensure the site team and subcontractors are working from the latest approved information.
• Oversee and support the Setting Out Engineer, providing technical guidance and checking works where required.
• Coordinate and manage site inspections, quality records and technical sign-offs.
• Manage technical documentation through Procore, ensuring drawings, inspections, RFIs and project information are maintained accurately.
• Work extensively with CAD and digital construction information, with the ability to interrogate drawings and identify potential construction issues.
• Take a hands-on approach to resolving engineering and technical problems on site.
• Coordinate a substantial civils and infrastructure package, including drainage, utilities, roads, groundworks and associated external works.
• Work closely with specialist groundworks and civils subcontractors throughout the infrastructure phase.
• Coordinate utility connections and interfaces with relevant statutory bodies and service providers.
• Support the delivery and coordination of a significant pump station and associated infrastructure serving the wider development area.
• Manage technical interfaces associated with water, drainage and utility infrastructure.
• Review subcontractor proposals, technical submittals, method statements and construction information.
• Ensure subcontractors understand the technical scope of their respective packages and deliver works in accordance with approved information.
• Monitor the quality of subcontractor works through regular inspections and ensure issues are recorded and closed out.
• Ensure works comply with Building Regulations, BCAR requirements, approved drawings, specifications and relevant standards.
• Coordinate benchmarks and inspection processes across the residential units.
• Maintain accurate engineering records, as-built information, inspection documentation and quality assurance records.
• Participate in Design Team, technical and construction coordination meetings.
• Work closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager on sequencing, programme and upcoming technical requirements.
• Identify potential design or coordination issues early to avoid delays to the construction programme.
• Provide technical input into value engineering and alternative construction solutions where appropriate.
• Support junior members of the engineering team and provide guidance where required.
• Report into the senior project leadership team and provide regular updates on engineering, design and technical matters.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• 5+ years' experience within the construction industry, ideally including experience at Senior Engineer level.
• A relevant Level 8 qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience delivering large residential developments, including apartments and/or housing.
• A background in civils, groundworks, drainage and infrastructure would be particularly beneficial.
• Strong technical ability and confidence reviewing and coordinating construction drawings.
• Previous experience using Procore or a similar construction management/document control platform.
• Experience managing RFIs, inspections, drawings, technical submittals and quality documentation.
• Ability to oversee and provide guidance to Setting Out/Site Engineers.
• Strong understanding of BCAR, Building Regulations and construction quality requirements.
