Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer – Payments based in Ireland to join a partner company.

You will be the first technical lead in the Payments squad, shaping architecture, owning delivery outcomes, and driving high‑quality technical execution while staying close to code. You will transform the payments service into robust infrastructure for growth, improve accuracy and processing efficiency, and help reduce transaction costs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a squad with ownership of delivery outcomes.
• Hands-on engineering leadership with coding and architecture reviews.
• Ability to coach engineers and shape ways of working.
• Experience balancing speed, quality, resilience, and cost in payments.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the Payments squad's delivery outcomes and establish engineering standards.
• Write technical specs, review architecture decisions, and contribute code.
• Set technical and architectural strategy for the payments domain.
• Improve payment accuracy and processing efficiency while reducing cost.
• Build and coach a high-performing engineering team; support hiring decisions.
• Collaborate with management and stakeholders; report on priorities and blockers.
