Job summary

Whatnot is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect and scale systems handling millions of users in a dynamic, fast-growing environment. You will own end-to-end delivery, mentor peers, and drive cross-team collaboration across Payments, Infrastructure and platform teams.

The role requires strong ownership, the ability to ship iterative features quickly, and a willingness to contribute to frontend work when needed. Dublin hub with flexible remote options is offered.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with scalable distributed systems.
• Experience with payments or international commerce a plus.
• Willingness to work with frontend when needed.
• Startup/high-growth experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and own scalable infrastructure for payment and transaction processing.
• Lead cross-team initiatives, ship high-quality features rapidly.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence across the platform.
• Collaborate with Payments - Experience and leadership on domain roadmap.
• Own projects from inception to production and maintenance.
