Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Tech Lead for Payments and Billing in Ireland to shape and own the next-gen payments infrastructure.

You will lead a Payments squad, blend hands-on engineering with architecture, and drive reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency in a high-volume environment. You will set technical direction, review designs and PRs, mentor engineers, and partner with management on hiring decisions while maintaining emphasis on delivery and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Tech Lead or equivalent with ownership of delivery outcomes and engineering standards.
• Strong track record writing design documents, reviewing PRs, and shaping architecture.
• Ability to coach and develop engineers while delivering major technical problems.

Responsibilities

• Own the Payments squad delivery outcomes ensuring reliability and quality.
• Set technical and architectural direction to scale payments infrastructure.
• Lead hands-on with design docs, architecture decisions, and implementation.
• Resolve blockers and drive momentum toward delivery.
• Define the squad's operating model balancing speed, quality, resilience, and maintainability.
• Improve payment accuracy and processing efficiency while reducing costs as volumes grow.
• Manage cross-team sequencing and dependencies and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Coach junior engineers and raise overall engineering quality and speed.
