Job summary

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy with CORU registration.
• Minimum of 4 years’ Speech and Language Therapy experience with dysphagia training.
• Competence in assessment, diagnosis, and management of adult dysphagia and related disorders.
• Experience with outpatient caseloads and videofluoroscopy clinics is desirable.

Responsibilities

We are hiringaSenior Speech and Language Therapist for our Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.

Responsibilities

Deliver a high-quality Speech & Language Therapy service in line with best practice standards, professional guidelines, and hospital policies.

Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and information for patients with communication and swallowing disorders, ensuring patient-centred care and involvement in decision-making.

Perform videofluoroscopy procedures, including assessment, analysis, interpretation, and preparation of clinical reports for adult inpatient and outpatient patients.

Represent and promote the Speech & Language Therapy service within the hospital and provide education and training to nursing, medical, and other healthcare staff on SLT services and swallow screening.

Maintain accurate clinical records, statistics, and documentation in accordance with legal, professional, organisational, and data protection requirements.

Work effectively as a senior member of the SLT team, collaborating with the Allied Therapy Manager and wider multidisciplinary team to support effective patient care and service delivery.

Contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical audit, research, policy development, and the introduction of new areas of SLT service delivery.

Support staff induction, orientation, supervision, continuing education, and professional development, while maintaining personal CPD and mandatory training requirements.

Ensure compliance with CORU and IASLT standards, hospital health and safety procedures, fire safety regulations, emergency and disaster plans, and other relevant legislation and policies.

Maintain professional competence by keeping up to date with developments, skills, technology, and evidence-based practice, while working within professional scope and maintaining effective use of hospital systems and equipment.

Requirements

Hold a recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy or an equivalent qualification approved by the Department of Health & Children, with current CORU registration.

Have a minimum of 4 years’ relevant Speech and Language Therapy experience, with essential training and competence in dysphagia management.

Demonstrate clinical competence in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of adult patients with dysphagia, dysphonia, and acquired communication disorders.

Have experience managing outpatient caseloads and demonstrate competence in conducting videofluoroscopy clinics.

Experience or competence in tracheostomy weaning and FEES is desirable.
