Job description

We are currently recruiting Staff Grade and Senior Speech & Language Therapists to join the team at an Acute setting in Tullamore. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a busy acute hospital setting, working with adult patients across a range of clinical areas.

Key Responsibilities of the Speech & Language Therapists

• Provide assessment, diagnosis, and management of communication and swallowing disorders (dysphagia)
• Work with adult patients across acute services including medical, surgical, and rehabilitation wards
• Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team including consultants, nursing staff, dietitians, and allied health professionals
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation
• Participate in discharge planning and continuity of care

Senior Role Responsibilities (in addition to above)

• Manage a complex caseload and provide clinical leadership within the SLT service
• Support and supervise junior staff and students
• Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Provide specialist input in dysphagia management

Requirements for the Speech & Language Therapists

• Degree in Speech & Language Therapy
• CORU registration (or eligibility)
• For Staff Grade: relevant clinical experience in SLT
• For Senior Grade: minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
• Experience in dysphagia management is essential
• Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills

Desirable

• Experience in an acute hospital setting
• Postgraduate training in dysphagia or related areas
• Previous HSE or similar healthcare experience
