Senior Quantity Surveyor - Dublin
Vickerstock are pleased to be partnering with a leading construction contractor on the appointment of a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
Why this opportunity?
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take further ownership of project finances, mentor junior members of the team and work closely with project leadership on the successful commercial delivery of complex projects. You will be involved across the full commercial lifecycle, from procurement and subcontractor tendering through to cost reporting, change management and final accounts.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing risk, value management and cost control across assigned projects.
- Advising on procurement strategy and preparing procurement schedules in conjunction with the Project Manager and Commercial Manager.
- Preparing subcontract tender documentation, including preambles, Bills of Quantities, drawings, specifications and subcontract agreements.
- Managing the subcontractor tendering process and analysing quotations to identify best value.
- Reviewing and checking Bills of Quantities and preparing BQs where required.
- Managing subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.
- Processing interim payments, managing retention and assessing subcontractor claims.
- Assessing and quantifying the impact of delay and disruption.
- Supporting the Commercial Manager and Project Manager with main contract administration.
- Preparing interim valuations and assisting with final account agreement with the Employer.
- Identifying, notifying and administering variations in accordance with the relevant contract conditions.
- Supporting the preparation of monthly cost value reconciliation reports, including subcontractor costs, preliminaries, materials and cash flow.
- Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks and providing regular updates.
- Mentoring and supporting junior and project Quantity Surveyors.
- Working closely with project leadership to ensure projects are delivered commercially and operationally within agreed budgets and programmes.
What you will need
- B.Sc. in Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in Quantity Surveying.
- Proven experience delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget.
- Strong understanding of subcontract procurement, contract administration, cost control and change management.
- IT literate, with experience using Microsoft Office and commercial software such as Cubit / CostX and COINS.
