Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is representing a client seeking a Business Development Executive in packaging. The role covers Cork, Limerick, Clare and Galway, managing an existing portfolio and driving new business opportunities across pharmaceutical, medical device, engineering, electronics and automotive sectors.

The candidate will read technical drawings, work with internal teams, and target revenue growth with a strong focus on field-based activities and regional travel.

Qualifications

• At least five years’ experience in packaging sales or a related manufacturing environment.
• Experience selling to pharmaceutical, medical device, engineering or electronics customers is desirable.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, CAD drawings and dimensions.

Responsibilities

• Manage, retain and grow a portfolio of established customer accounts.
• Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities for packaging, testing and related technical services.
• Build strong relationships with engineers, procurement teams and key decision-makers.
• Develop solutions-led proposals based on each customer’s technical, operational and commercial requirements.
• Work with internal Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service and Management teams to ensure customer expectations are met.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, CAD drawings and dimensions to support accurate customer proposals.
• Maintain a strong sales pipeline and achieve agreed revenue, profitability and new-business targets.
• You will typically spend one to two days per week in the Cork office, with the remaining days focused on customer visits and field-based sales activity.
