Job summary

Ethos Engineering is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical to lead retrofit projects for data centre environments across Europe. You will design, specify and deliver mechanical building services upgrades while ensuring safety, continuity of operations and high technical standards in live facilities.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage scope, budget and schedules, and coordinate with clients, contractors and vendors to minimise disruption.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years in building services with 3+ years in data centres.
• Live data centre experience including brownfield upgrades.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership.
• Proven track record managing multi-million-euro MEP projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical building services upgrades within live data centre environments.
• Develop retrofit design strategies including tie-ins to live systems.
• Conduct due diligence of existing data centre facilities.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, schedules, reports, and tenders.
• Manage project scope, budget, programme and contracts.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and vendors to minimise disruption.
• Drive QA and governance per live-environment protocols.
• Mentor junior engineers and support business development.
• Champion innovation in retrofit delivery.
• Lead phasing for live cooling and HVAC upgrades.
