Job summary

Ethos is a collaborative team delivering data centre and energy infrastructure across EMEA. We seek a Project Design Engineer – Mechanical with 2–5 years of building services experience to join our Engineering Studio.

You will lead mechanical design tasks across projects from concept to handover, QA audits, and mentoring junior engineers. You will work on HVAC, water systems, and fire protection design, using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Hevacomp, and IES within a supportive, growth-focused consultancy

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• 2–5 years of experience in mechanical design within building services consultancy.
• Based in Ireland and eligible to work in Ireland.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee specific elements of design work and coordinate with other disciplines; may supervise junior staff on assigned tasks.
• Champion QA across projects, performing audits and promoting compliance with internal QA systems.
• Manage and maintain the project mechanical design file and contribute to evolving design standards.
• Take technical ownership of mechanical systems from concept design to commissioning and handover.
• Ensure continuous quality control of design and installation; align with CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS, EN standards.
• Develop detailed mechanical specifications, tender packages, and reports including value engineering.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges.
• Support and mentor junior engineers; contribute to team growth.
