Job summary

NRL is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical in Dublin to lead mechanical upgrades for live data centre projects across Europe. The role focuses on delivering safety, efficiency and innovation while managing complex retrofit programmes in live environments.

You will oversee design, coordination with clients and contractors, and ensure compliance with relevant standards, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to business development opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
8+ years in building services, with 3+ years in data centre or mission-critical projects.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards.
Strong knowledge of Irish/EU regulations and standards (CIBSE/ASHRAE/BS).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

Lead design and delivery of mechanical upgrades in live data centres.
Prepare design drawings, schematics, schedules, reports, and tender docs.
Manage scope, budgets, timelines, and contracts; mitigate live-environment risks.
Develop retrofit strategies, including tie-ins to live systems and outage planning.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and vendors for zero-disruption delivery.
Drive quality assurance and ensure compliance with WAP/PTW protocols.
Mentor junior engineers and support their professional growth.
Contribute to proposals, client presentations, and technical strategies.
