Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company in Ireland, seeks an experienced Linux Platform Engineer to own and evolve enterprise Linux platforms across on‑prem and cloud environments. You will shape platform strategy, architecture, automation, security, reliability, and lifecycle management at scale.

You will drive Infrastructure as Code, automation, observability, and DevOps practices while collaborating across infra, cloud, security, application, database, network, and storage teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7–10+ years Linux engineering in enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in enterprise Linux distributions, especially SUSE Linux or RHEL.
• Experience with automation and IaC using Ansible, Terraform, Puppet.
• Experience with VMware vSphere or equivalent virtualization.
• Networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, NTP, TCP/IP.
• Security hardening, patching, and compliance in enterprise environments.
• Hybrid/cloud experience with AWS/Azure/GCP is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise Linux platform roadmap, lifecycle management, and modernization.
• Define engineering standards and reliability processes for Linux environments.
• Design scalable Linux solutions for on-premises and cloud.
• Act as technical authority for compute, virtualization, storage, and core Linux services.
• Lead architecture discussions, design reviews, and key engineering decisions.
• Drive automation and IaC adoption using Ansible, Terraform, Bash, and Python.
• Develop reusable automation frameworks and self-service platform modules.
• Mentor engineers and promote platform engineering maturity.
