Job summary

SIG Susquehanna seeks a highly technical Senior Linux Platform Development Engineer for the Dublin Platform Development Linux team. This hands-on role focuses on designing, building, and operating automated infrastructure platforms, distributed systems, and platform services that support workloads worldwide.

You will work across Linux, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and platform engineering, developing tooling, automation, APIs, and services that enable reliable, scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Linux kernel, networking, storage, and production systems.
• Proven Python development experience and building automation frameworks.
• Hands-on OpenStack platform development in large-scale environments.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale with Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal platform services, APIs, automation tooling, and self-service platforms.
• Develop software and platform capabilities using Python to support scalable infrastructure.
• Design and evolve OpenStack and Kubernetes platforms, including platform services and operators.
• Create CI/CD, GitOps, IaC, observability, and automation solutions for platform delivery.

Overview

We are seeking a highly technical Senior Linux Platform Development Engineer to join the Dublin Platform Development Linux team.

This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on designing, building, and operating highly automated infrastructure platforms, distributed systems, and platform services that support critical workloads and users across SIG globally. Working across Linux, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and platform engineering, you will develop the tooling, automation, APIs, and services that enable infrastructure to operate reliably and at scale.

The successful candidate will have experience designing and evolving in-house custom-built infrastructure platforms at global scale, contributing to the architecture of large-scale OpenStack environments, and influencing platform design, engineering standards, and technical direction across globally distributed teams.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain internally developed platform services, APIs, automation frameworks, engineering tooling, and self‑service platforms.
• Develop software and platform capabilities primarily using Python, building scalable infrastructure services and distributed systems.
• Design, develop, and evolve SIG’s global OpenStack and Kubernetes platforms, including platform services, integrations, operators, controllers, and automation frameworks.
• Create and maintain CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, observability, and automation solutions supporting platform delivery and operations.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Linux, OpenStack, Kubernetes, networking, storage, virtualization, and distributed systems.
• Contribute to platform architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction through architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical governance initiatives.

What we’re looking for

• Strong expertise in Linux engineering, including troubleshooting across kernel, networking, storage, virtualization, and complex production environments.
• Proven experience in Python development and software engineering, building automation frameworks, APIs, platform services, engineering tooling, or infrastructure platforms used by other engineers.
• Deep Hands‑on experience in OpenStack platform development and engineering, including contributing to platform architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction within large‑scale or globally distributed environments.
• Extensive experience in Kubernetes platform engineering, including designing, building, operating, and extending production Kubernetes platforms through automation, operators, controllers, integrations, and platform services.
• Strong experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems and custom‑built infrastructure platforms within globally distributed engineering organisations.

Desirable Experience

• Experience building internal developer platforms, shared infrastructure services, self‑service systems, or engineering productivity tooling.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed infrastructure, including multi-region architectures, hybrid cloud environments, or distributed storage platforms.
• Contribution to open-source projects or experience leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate platform engineering, automation, and software delivery.
