Job summary

AECOM is hiring an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution team. Based in the UK or Ireland, you will shape grid-scale power infrastructure from concept to energisation, contributing to major initiatives with UK and Irish utilities.

You will produce HV substation layouts and equipment specifications, support major infrastructure projects, and contribute to renewable energy initiatives while working in a flexible hybrid model.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience of working on HV projects.
• Experience with utilities or developers.
• Experience as a designer or project engineer.
• Experience developing specs for substations, transformers, GIS, AIS switchgear.
• Ability to work across multiple projects.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience in technical report writing.
• Full driving license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Produce equipment specifications for HV plant and related equipment.
• Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake an Owners' Engineer role on HV substation/cable and OHL projects.
• Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects (battery storage, solar, hydro, wind).
• Provide professional services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas.
• Drive excellence.
