Position: Senior Electrical Project Manager – Data Centres

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Manager to join a leading contractor delivering major data centre and mission-critical projects across Ireland.
This is an opportunity for an experienced electrical construction professional to take responsibility for the successful delivery of complex electrical packages on high-value data centre projects.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical project management, with proven experience managing large-scale commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, mission-critical or data centre projects.
You will be responsible for leading the electrical delivery team, managing specialist subcontractors and suppliers, coordinating with the wider project team and ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, to specification and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical delivery of a major data centre project from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
- Take responsibility for the planning, coordination and execution of all electrical works.
- Manage Electrical Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and subcontractors.
- Develop and manage detailed electrical programmes in line with the overall project schedule.
- Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, structural, architectural and civil disciplines.
- Manage electrical subcontractors, suppliers and specialist vendors.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, technical submissions and design information.
- Identify design and construction issues and coordinate resolutions with the design team.
- Monitor progress against programme and implement recovery strategies where required.
- Manage electrical procurement, including long-lead equipment and materials.
- Ensure electrical works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings and approved construction methodologies.
- Monitor project costs, variations, change orders and commercial performance in conjunction with the commercial team.
- Lead electrical coordination and progress meetings with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Manage technical queries, RFIs and design changes.
- Ensure all electrical works are completed to the required quality standards.
- Coordinate testing, inspection and commissioning activities.
- Work closely with the commissioning team to ensure systems are ready for IST and final handover.
- Ensure all project documentation, testing records, as-built information and O&M documentation are completed.
- Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, quality and environmental standards throughout the project.
- Provide regular progress updates to senior project leadership and the client.
Electrical Systems
The successful candidate will ideally have experience managing a broad range of electrical systems, including:
- HV / MV infrastructure
- Transformers
- MV/LV switchgear
- Generators and standby power
- UPS systems
- Battery systemsLV distribution
- Busbar / busway systems
- Lighting and emergency lighting
- Small power
- Earthing and bonding
- Containment systems
- BMS / EPMS interfaces
- Controls and monitoring systems
- Electrical testing and commissioning
Experience Required
- 8+ years' experience within electrical construction and project management.
- Proven experience managing major electrical packages on large-scale construction projects.
- Previous experience working for a Tier 1 main contractor, MEP contractor or specialist electrical contractor.
- Strong experience managing electrical subcontractors, suppliers and specialist vendors.
- Demonstrable experience managing projects with significant electrical scope and value.
- Strong understanding of electrical installation, construction, testing and commissioning.
- Experience managing programmes, budgets, resources, procurement and project risks.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction contracts.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of Irish construction health & safety requirements.
Previous data centre or mission-critical experience is highly desirable, particularly experience with:
- Colocation facilities
- Critical power infrastructure
- High-voltage electrical distribution
- Generator and UPS systems
- Integrated systems testing
- Commissioning and handover
Candidates from pharmaceutical, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, power generation and other highly regulated or mission-critical environments may also be considered.
Qualifications
- Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant electrical engineering or trade qualification.
- Project Management qualifications would be advantageous.
- Chartered Engineer status or professional accreditation would be desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of relevant Irish and European electrical standards and regulations.
