Job summary

NRL is seeking a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading Dublin engineering consultancy. The role focuses on electrical building services design for data centre projects, driving projects from concept through to completion on-site in Dublin.

You will lead design teams, develop electrical standards, prepare tender packages, and mentor junior staff while liaising with clients, architects and project managers to ensure compliant, sustainable and cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered status is advantageous but not essential.
• Proven track record with at least 10 years in electrical building services design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical services design for a range of projects.
• Design and specify electrical services across building types and sectors.
• Produce detailed schematics and technical documentation.
• Develop and implement electrical design standards within the organisation.
• Mentor and support junior engineering staff.
• Prepare fully detailed tender packages and monitor installation and quality on-site until project completion.
• Provide tender analysis and recommendations.
• Develop project scope in collaboration with the design team and clients.
• Use software such as AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech and Revit.
• Produce budgets and project reports.
• Attend site visits and assume full project leadership with minimal oversight.

This role is ideal for someone with strong expertise in electrical building services design, particularly within data centre projects, who enjoys leading projects from concept to completion.

Location and Working Pattern: Dublin, Ireland - on-site with client engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical services design for a range of projects.
• Design and specify electrical services across multiple building types and sectors.
• Produce detailed schematics and technical documentation.
• Develop and implement electrical design standards within the organisation.
• Mentor and support junior engineering staff.
• Prepare fully detailed tender packages and monitor installation and quality on-site until project completion.
• Provide tender analysis and recommendations.

• Confidently use software such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech, and Revit.

Must-have Requirements

• Honours degree in a relevant discipline (Chartered status advantageous but not essential).
• 10+ years of experience as a Senior Engineer.
• Proven electrical building services design experience, specifically within data centre engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, techniques, and standards (ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, EN).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with working knowledge of AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech, and Revit.
• Capable of leading projects from concept through to completion.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, architects, and project managers.

Nice-to-have Skills

• Chartered Engineer status.
• Advanced Revit and design software competency.
