Job summary

Global Professional Consultants is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Tier 1 M&E contracting team at the North Dublin headquarters. The role focuses on early-stage design development, technical assurance, constructability and risk mitigation across enterprise and hyperscale data centre projects.

You will lead design teams, coordinate with clients, consultants and the supply chain, review designs, assist with tendering, and prepare procurement packages.

Qualifications

• Honours degree (Level 8) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status preferred or actively working towards chartership.
• 8+ years’ experience working with a consultancy as an Electrical Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Review project designs, specifications and drawings to understand scope and requirements.
• Lead and coordinate design teams, clients, architects, consultants and subcontractors.
• Prepare equipment procurement and subcontract packages.
• Assess subcontractor and supplier tenders for technical compliance.
• Review tender documentation and construction methodologies to identify scope gaps, risks and programme impacts.
• Coordinate detailed design development and project risk mitigation.

Job description

Senior Electrical Design Engineer required to join a Tier 1 M&E contractor at their headquarters in North Dublin. The successful Senior Electrical Engineer will play a key role within the preconstruction team, supporting multiple enterprise and hyperscale data centre projects across a diverse client portfolio. Working at the front end of projects, this role focuses on early-stage design development, technical assurance, constructability and risk mitigation, working closely with clients, consultants and the wider supply chain.

Duties:

• Review project designs, specifications and drawings to understand scope and requirements.
• Assist with estimates, tender documentation and project resourcing.
• Review MEP designs and identify alternative systems and value-engineering opportunities.
• Lead and coordinate design teams, clients, architects, consultants and subcontractors.
• Prepare equipment procurement and subcontract packages.
• Assess subcontractor and supplier tenders for technical compliance.
• Review tender documentation and construction methodologies to identify scope gaps, risks and programme impacts.
• Coordinate detailed design development and project risk mitigation.

Requirements:

• Honours degree (Level 8) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years’ experience working with a consultancy as an Electrical Engineer.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, regulatory requirements and value engineering principles.
• Achieved Senior Electrical Engineer title
• Competence in design software such as Navisworks, ACC, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
• Chartered Engineer preferred or actively working towards chartership.
• Salary €85,000 to €95,000 DOE
